Amelia and Jessica jumping for joy after trampolining success

Two Bothal Primary School pupils were jumping for joy after being selected to represent the north of England in a national trampolining competition.

Amelia Turnbull-Bell, ten, and Jessica Shaw, nine, competed in the Trampoline, Tumbling and DMT (double mini trampoline) Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Final 2024 held at Utilita Arena in Birmingham last weekend.

The Year 5 students won their place in the regional team after securing the top two places in regional qualifying events held in Billingham in January and April.

Amelia took sixth place and Jessica 15th position out of 26 competitors from across the country taking part in Birmingham.

The pair train three times per week at Wansbeck Gymnastics and Trampolining Club at Ashington Leisure Centre.

Amelia’s mum Lucy said: “Both girls have worked really hard, often missing out on social events to attend training. They put a lot of hours into their training and were up against a tough category. We are really proud.”

Jessica’s mum Laura added: “We are so proud of the girls - this is an amazing achievement. This is just the beginning of their journey - hopefully many more amazing things to come.”

Well done Amelia and Jessica!
